Downtown by any other name is The Tenderloin – one of San Francisco’s oldest neighborhoods designated as subdistrict 8A in the SFAR MLS. Downtown is home to dense mixed-use buildings with ground-floor retail and homes above. Located between Market St. to the south and more expensive neighborhoods to the north, downtown is relatively affordable by SF standards.
Downtown housing stock is primarily wood-framed mixed-use multi-unit buildings. Single family homes can be found, but there are far more condominiums and coops than single family homes. A neighborhood that was developed early by SF standards, you’ll find plenty of Victorian and Edwardian unit buildings. Not a view neighborhood for the most part.
High. There are numerous corner cafes and boutiques scattered throughout the nabe and you can get around quite easily without a car. If you don’t have a car, you won’t complain about lack of parking!
Homes for sale in the downtown area have plenty of muni bus options, and the area is incredibly pedestrian and bike-friendly.
We have access to a variety of non-public professional listing networks and may know of upcoming or off-MLS opportunities in the Downtown area.
